What does an Online Backend Engineer do?
You will design and implement scalable, distributed backend systems that power matchmaking for EA’s biggest titles.
Responsibilities
- Design brand new services covering all aspects from storage to application logic to management console
- Enhance and add features to existing systems
- Communicate with engineers across the company
- Optimize performance and scalability of server systems
- Support LIVE environments and game teams
- Maintain automated tests
- Advocate for best practices
- Work with product managers to improve features
Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with Go, C#, or C++
- Strong algorithms and data structures
- Experience with AWS EC2
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Bonus Qualifications
- Jenkins and Groovy
- Ansible
- gRPC and protobuf
- High traffic distributed systems
- Cassandra, Apache Spark, AWS S3
- Performance tuning and stress testing
